Read product reviews before you buy: a practical checklist
Use reviews to answer specific questions about fit, performance and seller service instead of relying only on stars.
Start with the problem you need the product to solve Write down a few questions before reading reviews. For earbuds, that might be comfort and microphone quality; for a bag, capacity and zip durability; for skincare, the ingredient list and your skin’s needs. This keeps an attractive star score from replacing your own requirements.
Check which variant was reviewed Look for the model, size or quantity mentioned by the reviewer. A review for another variant may not answer your question. Check the review date too, especially if the product has been updated.
Read both positive and critical experiences Look for specific details rather than general praise. Consider whether repeated complaints concern the product itself, delivery damage or the seller. These are different risks and may need different decisions.
Treat ratings as one signal, not proof A high average rating cannot guarantee that a product will suit you. Review counts and ratings can also vary between stores. Do not assume a rating shown for a store or a group of listings is a review of your exact item.
Confirm the written terms Before paying, check the manufacturer’s specifications and the store’s return, replacement and warranty conditions. Save the order details. For a shopping comparison, start at https://getmyprice.in; for category checklists, browse https://getmyprice.in/guides.
